Course Description: 
The CVCC Workforce Solutions PMP Certification Exam Prep Course offers weekly instructor-led classes which are interactive, comprehensive and effective. The course features an interactive and personalized path toward success with access to assessments, practice questions, learning modules, quick-start videos, study flashcards, post-tests and an online resource center. Virtual on-line classes are offered at various times annually and customized classes are available upon request.
 
Prerequisites:
The Project Management Institute (PMI) offers and sets the eligibility criteria for the PMP certification. Applicants must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time they submit their application in order to be eligible to sit for the PMP exam. These requirements are outlined below:
 Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate degree or the global equivalent)
  • 7,500 hours leading and directing projects
  • 35 hours of project management education 
    OR
Four-year degree
  • 4,500 hours leading and directing projects
  • 35 hours of project management education

Topics:  The Learning System for PMP Exam Preparation teaches the tasks within the ?ve PMP Process Groups and ten knowledge areas. Materials in this course are based on the Project Management Institute’s, A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide)—Sixth Edition. These chapters include: Project Management Concepts, Project Management Framework, Project Management Skills, Integration Management, Scope Management, Time Management, Cost Management, Quality Management, Human Resource Management, Communications Management, Risk Management, Procurement Management, Stakeholder Management, Exam Preparation and Review.
 
Course Exam:  The Project Management Institute (PMI) is the leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project management profession. Students will be required to complete an online application process, create an online profile and schedule an exam date in PMI’s online portal. The exam fee is not included in the cost of the class.

MATERIALS:All materials necessary for this program are included.  The cost for the PMI Exam is not included.

Class Details:  40 hours of instructor-led, virtually delivered instruction. 
                        Class meets virtually on Tuesdays, 6:30pm – 9:30 pm. 
                        Campus Computer Lab available for Interested Students (RM 5137 Merritt Hall).

WCG 
Workforce Credentials Grant.  Funds available to individuals who meet Virginia Domicile Determination criteria.  Determination is included in the online class registration.
 
Tobacco Commission Aid

WCG and FANTIC
The Financial Aid for Noncredit Training leading to Industry Credentials (FANTIC) program provides funding for students demonstrating financial need based on low income criteria.
 
WIOA
The Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act offers federal funding through the Region 2000 Workforce Development Board for low-income and dislocated workers.
 
Course Offerings, dates/times and locations are subject to change without notice. For up-to-date information, please call the Workforce Solutions office at 434-832-7607. Financial Aid funds are limited, and availability of the reduced tuition costs are contingent upon the availability of state funding. A student's best option for determining eligibility is to arrange an appointment with Workforce.
 
CANCELLATION POLICY:  CVCC reserves the right to cancel any classes which do not have sufficient registration or for other reasons that arise in the course of business. Any classes offered by CVCC, whether on campus or off site, will be canceled due to inclement weather when CVCC is closed. 
 
Students are encouraged to register for all classes at least seven (7) days before the first scheduled class date. Late registrations may be possible depending on factors such as space availability, purchasing, etc. If your plans change, Workforce Solutions must be notified at 434-832-7607 at least three (3) business days before the first scheduled class date. You then will have the option to transfer to another upcoming class within the same semester or receive a refund. If you fail to contact the Workforce office at least three (3) business days before the first scheduled class date, the full cost of the class, including any books, materials or other class expenses, will be forfeited. Specific programs may have alternative refund policies. Contact the Workforce Solutions office for more details.
