FastForward Eligible Program
: To qualify for FastForward programs, you must meet the Virginia Domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia for at least one year and intend to stay indefinitely. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. If you qualify, you will pay one-third (1/3) of the cost of the program. If you have a financial need, you may also qualify for Financial Assistance

Course Description:
The primary focus of the
Advanced Emergency Medical Technician
is to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. These individuals have basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight and will perform interventions with basic and advanced equipment found in the ambulance.
Virginia EMS Education Standards for the AEMT is designed to educate the technician in the following areas of pre-hospital care: preparatory skills, airway management and ventilation, patient assessment, trauma, medical, special consideration and assessment-based management.
Course Prerequisites:
1 year EMS experience with current agency
Letter of Recommendation from EMS Agency Chief, Captain, Training Officer
Letter of Reference from Agency Medical Director
EMT Credential

AHA BLS
(required)
18 Years or Older
Hold a Government Issued Photo ID
Graduate from High School
(or Equivalent, i.e., GED)
Criminal Background Check through Field Print Required
Required Immunizations
(TB Tests, Flu Shot & Misc.)
