The third level of the four-part HVACR curriculum focuses on troubleshooting a range of HVAC issues, while mastering the inspection and installation of various types of refrigeration, hydronic and duct systems. NCCER’s HVACR curriculum meets HVAC Excellence accreditation standards to prepare trainees to sit for HVAC Excellence certification tests.

The HVAC Level 3 course has twelve modules: fasteners, hardware, and wiring terminations, control circuit and motor troubleshooting, troubleshooting cooling, troubleshooting heat pumps, troubleshooting gas heating, troubleshooting oil heating, troubleshooting accessories, zoning, ductless, and variable refrigerant flow systems, commercial hydronic systems, steam systems, retail refrigeration systems, and customer relations. 

Students should have basic computer skills, basic math skills and be able to use a calculator to complete NCCER module testing and completion of homework assignments in CANVAS. Students must complete and pass all modules to be certified in NCCER HVAC 3.
