FastForward Eligible Program: To qualify for FastForward programs, you must meet the Virginia Domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia for at least one year and intend to stay indefinitely. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. If you qualify, you will pay one-third (1/3) of the cost of the program. If you have a financial need, you may also qualify for Financial Assistance (G3) that can pay 100% of your third.

* You must come into the Workforce Solutions office to apply for G3 funding prior to enrollment. 

This course is the first in the series of four HVAC classes. Students must be certified in NCCER Core or be co-enrolled in the NCCER Core class. Topic include HVAC operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of residential and light commercial heating/cooling systems. 
Students will also use diagnostic tools and procedures to identify problems and establish operating efficiency in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and standards. The HVAC Level 1 course has nine modules: introduction to HVAC, trade mathematics, basic electricity, introduction to heating, introduction to cooling, introduction to air distribution systems, basic copper and plastic piping practices, soldering and brazing and basic carbon steel piping practices.  Students that successfully complete all (9) modules will receive the NCCER HVAC 1 credential.


 ** Students should have basic computer skills, basic math skills and be able to use a calculator to complete NCCER module testing and completion of homework assignments in CANVAS. **
