FastForward Eligible Program: To qualify for FastForward programs, you must meet the Virginia Domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia for at least one year and intend to stay indefinitely. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. If you qualify, you will pay one-third (1/3) of the cost of the program. If you have a financial need, you may also qualify for Financial Assistance (G3) that can pay 100% of your third.

  • FastForward plus Tobacco Commission Grant Price: $475

* You must come into the Workforce Solutions office to apply for G3 funding prior to enrollment. 
This course is the first in the series of four plumbing classes. Students must be certified in NCCER Core or be co-enrolled in the NCCER Core class. This rigorous Plumbing curriculum prepares learners for a career as skilled plumbers.  The curriculum covers the concepts technicians need to safely install, test, maintain, and repair many different types of pipe systems for residential, commercial and public buildings. Coverage of math, drawings, code, and other critical knowledge skills ensure learners are set up for job success.

The four-level Plumbing curriculum complies with the U.S. Department of Labor’s standards for apprenticeship programs.

The Plumbing Level 1 course has twelve modules: introduction to the plumbing profession, plumbing safety, tools of the plumbing trade, introduction to plumbing math, introduction to plumbing drawings, plastic pipe and fittings, copper tube and fittings, cast iron pipe and fittings, steel pipe and fittings, introduction to plumbing fixtures, introduction to drain, waste, and vent (DWV)systems, and introduction to water distribution systems. Students that successfully complete all (12) modules will receive the NCCER Plumbing 1 credential.

 ** Students should have basic computer skills, basic math skills and be able to use a calculator to complete NCCER module testing and completion of homework assignments in CANVAS. **
