Program Description:
The Phlebotomy Technician course is 36 hours of classroom instruction on CVCC’s Main Campus.

In addition to classroom training, students will participate in 40 hours of clinical training that will be completed in an accredited laboratory at a local medical center. Students must perform 30 successful unaided venipunctures and 10 capillary or finger sticks.

Students must score 70% or more on class work to be eligible to participate in clinical rotations and sit for the NHA (National Healthcareer Association) certification exam.



Admission Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Background check- Students are required to have a Criminal Background Check with the Virginia State Police. Students must bring a $20 money order payable to the Virginia State Police and a state issued ID or driver’s license.
  • Drug Screen- BlueRidge Scientific charges $45 for this service. Please let them know that you are a CVCC healthcare student so we can access your screening.

Please read:  Students must cancel 2 weeks before classes start to avoid a $100 cancellation fee. Additional program specific fees may be charged to the student with a 2-week cancellation notice. Students that request to be moved to another class section will need to pay a $25 fee before being moved to another class section.
