FastForward Eligible Program: To qualify for FastForward programs, you must meet the Virginia Domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia for at least one year and intend to stay indefinitely. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. If you qualify, you will pay one-third (1/3) of the cost of the program. If you have a financial need, you may also qualify for Financial Assistance (G3) that can pay 100% of your third.

* You must come into the Workforce Solutions office to apply for G3 funding prior to enrollment.

Course Description: 
This course prepares the student for National Registry Paramedic certification eligibility and includes the theory and application of the following: Enhanced A&P, Foundations, Assessment, Airway, & Respiratory, Trauma Emergencies, Pharmacology, Cardiology, Medical Emergencies, Obstetrics & Pediatrics, Operations, and Career Development. Conforms at a minimum to the Virginia Office of Emergency Services curriculum. 

Course Prerequisites: 
  • 1 year of EMS experience with current agency
  • Letter of recommendation from EMS Agency Chief, Captain, or Training Officer
  • Letter of reference from Agency Medical Director
  • AEMT credential or Intermediate (required)
  • Current AHA BLS (required)
  • 18 years old or older
  • Government Issued Photo ID
  • Graduate from High School (or Equivalent, i.e., GED)
  • Criminal Background Check through Field Print Required 
  • Required Immunizations (TB Tests, Flu Shot & Misc.)   
  • Complete Paramedic application packet
